Important Things to Know Before Buying the Streamlight TLR1 HLX

There's some important info that you need to know before buying the new Streamlight TLR1 HLX. Whether you're upgrading your tactical light or buying your first one, these key points could impact your decision.

1. Battery Options Impact Performance

The Streamlight TLR1 HLX comes with one of two battery types:

  • Standard CR123A Batteries: Delivers 1,000 lumens of output.
  • Rechargeable Batteries: Boosts the light's performance to an impressive 1,500 lumens, giving you a significant increase in brightness.

So before placing an order you really need to double check which package you're getting. There's only 1 version of the light, the difference is which battery it comes with out of the box.

2. Compatibility with Kydex Holsters

Despite claims from Streamlight, the TLR1 HLX does NOT fit old TLR1 holsters. If you're upgrading from a TLR1 or own TLR1-compatible gear, you'll need to invest in a new holster specifically designed for the TLR1 HLX. This is a critical detail to know to avoid compatibility issues.

We'll be doing a more in depth review of the light and comparing it to the original TLR1. If you're curious about the TLR7 HLX and how that compares to the TLR1 we have you covered.

We're working on IWB Kydex holsters for the TLR1 HLX.
